Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
The adventure kicks off at Machame Gate, where trekkers begin their ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting in the lush rainforest, the trail gradually gains altitude as hikers wind their way through dense vegetation, occasionally catching glimpses of unique wildlife. After several hours of trekking, the group reaches Machame Camp, nestled in a scenic clearing amidst the trees, marking the end of the day's journey.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Continuing their ascent, trekkers bid farewell to the rainforest and enter the moorland zone. The landscape begins to change as they climb higher, with vast expanses of heath and sparse vegetation stretching out before them. The day's trek concludes at Shira Camp, situated on the expansive Shira Plateau, where trekkers are treated to sweeping views of the surrounding terrain.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Today's adventure involves crossing the Shira Plateau and ascending to Lava Tower, a natural landmark where trekkers stop for acclimatization. After a brief rest, the group descends to Barranco Camp via the Barranco Wall, a thrilling scramble that offers panoramic views of the valley below. The day ends with a well-deserved rest at Barranco Camp, nestled in a scenic valley beneath the towering cliffs of the Barranco Wall.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
The trek resumes with an exhilarating ascent of the Barranco Wall, followed by a traverse through alpine desert terrain. As the group gains altitude, the landscape becomes increasingly barren, with rugged rock formations dotting the landscape. Eventually, they arrive at Karanga Camp, perched on a rocky ridge with commanding views of the mountain and surrounding landscape.
Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
With the summit in sight, trekkers push onward to Barafu Camp, the final base camp before the summit push. The trail steepens as they ascend through rocky terrain, and trekkers mentally prepare themselves for the challenging ascent ahead. At Barafu Camp, they rest and refuel, readying themselves for the epic summit attempt in the early hours of the morning.
Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (summit) to Mweka Camp
The culmination of the journey arrives as trekkers embark on the summit attempt under the cover of darkness. With headlamps illuminating the way, they ascend steeply towards Stella Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After reaching the summit and savoring the breathtaking views, trekkers begin their descent, eventually arriving at Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.
